BOOKS

DUST a fabulously irreverent novel about two ten year old boys growing up in New Jersey in the late 60s against the background of the Vietnam war, Woodstock, racial bigoty, and the small stuff - like the Moon landings, sex, murder, music, guitars, girl, cigarettes and coffee. 'Catcher In The Rye with coffee and cigarettes'

“

Mark Thompson’s lyrical if dark coming-of-age novel may

invite comparisons to ‘The Catcher in the Rye’, but his wise-ass

narrator is only eleven and living in the era of Watts and

Woodstock.

This remarkable debut evokes the mythic America

of John Cheever, Annie Dillard’s Maytrees and Garrison

Keillor’s Lake Wobegon.

BIO

Feeling motivated to write is the first step on an amazing journey of self-discovery. Taking the boundaries of imagination in both hands then, with considerable fear of the unknown, deciding to tear a hole and step through an invisible fence is both exhilarating and daunting... and leads the writer to places he may otherwise never have experienced. I would be delighted to have you share that journey with me.

Raised in Stockton-on-Tees, England, the author spent many years living in London before moving to Andalucia in southern Spain. He has travelled extensively throughout the United States, Europe and far afield over many years, harvesting material for writing both literature and songs. When time allows he plays guitar in a rock band, and lives happily in York with his partner Liz, two rabbits and a tortoise.
